The WBA Order for the Super Title

The World Boxing Association has formally designated Jack Catterall as the mandatory challenger to face Teófimo López. Catterall holds the mandatory position against the WBA welterweight Super Champion, setting the stage for a showdown between the organization's champions.

Catterall's Victory and Initial Obligations

Jack Catterall secured his WBA world title by defeating Shakhram Giyasov. Under the sanctioning body's framework, former champion Rolando Romero was initially slated to defend his belt against the winner of the Catterall-Giyasov bout before the championship timeline shifted.

By defeating Rolando Romero to claim the WBA Super Championship, Teófimo López inherited the regulatory obligations previously established for the titleholder. As a result, López is directly bound to face Catterall under the rules set by the WBA championship committee.
